Scenario
One last kumite, one last battle – for his daughter’s life. David Yeung is the son of Bolo Yeung, who played the antagonist Chong Li in 1988’s Bloodsport (1988), which was the main inspiration for The Last Kumite (2024). Story: Karate champion Rivers (Mathis Landwehr) retires to avoid permanent injury. Soon after, shady businessman Hall (Hues) offers him a huge prize to join a deadly Kumite competition. Michael refuses, but his daughter Bree (Kira Kortenbach) is kidnapped. To save her, Michael must enter the race. The film is as shallow and superficial as the story, with meaningless dialogue. The fight scenes are poorly choreographed, although Mike Möller’s fight was outstanding. Other actors were lousy and sluggish. This is not a B-movie. . A D movie. D for horrible/disgraceful mess. Next time Clarkson brings Til Schweiger and throws in Steven Seagal to complete the disaster! I only give it 2 stars because of Mike Möller and Michel Qissi.
