Introducing Ableton Live Suite
Live is fast, fluid, and flexible software for creating and performing music. It’s packed with effects, instruments, sounds, and all sorts of creative features—everything you need to make any kind of music. Create in a traditional linear layout or improvise without timeline constraints in the live session view. Move freely between musical elements and play with ideas without stopping the music or interrupting your rhythm.
Key features of Ableton Live Suite
Compilation
Live organizes multiple performances of an audio or MIDI performance into individual frames. Combine the best of many types or find new creative combinations.
Edit a related recording
Link two or more audio or MIDI tracks to edit or compose their content simultaneously.
MPE compatibility
Add bends, slides, and pressures to each individual string. Add subtle variations in expression, switch between chords, and create evolving sonic textures.
Expression View
Add and edit pitch, timbre, and pressure variations for individual notes directly in a new tab in the clip detail view.
Native MPE-enabled devices
Wavetable, Sampler, and Arpeggiator now support MPE. Use Push’s pad pressure to control parameters for each note.
Hybrid Reverb
Combines convolutions and algorithmic reverbs, allowing you to create any space, from a precise real-world environment to one that defies physical reality.
Spectral Resonator
Splits the spectrum of an incoming audio signal into parts, then subtly or radically stretches, shifts, and blurs the result by frequency or note. Play it like an instrument with MIDI.
Spectral Time
Transforms a sound into partial parts and feeds them with a frequency-based delay, creating metallic echoes, frequency shifts, and reverb-like effects. Freeze captures and freezes audio.
Inspired by Nature
Six playful instruments and effects inspired by nature and physical processes. Created in collaboration with Dillon Bastan.
PitchLoop89
Based on an early digital effects processor, this unit produces stuttering distortion effects, delayed digital shimmers, and unusual vibrato to add character to sounds in the studio or on stage. Created in collaboration with Robert Henke.
Chorus-Ensemble
The updated version of Chorus now offers a wider range of sound-shaping options: add vibrato, spread the left and right channels of the signal across the stereo field, and add a thick chorus of 3 delay lines.
Redux
Redux adds a wider range of sounds from vintage digital gear, including harsh distortions, digital artifacts and aliasing, and warm, rich 8-bit textures.
Phaser-Flanger
Phaser and Flanger have been combined and now offer a new, juicier sound with increased frequency and modulation ranges, significant improvements to existing modes, and a new Doubler mode for short, modulatable delays.
Macro Variations
Save macro state for later recall – a quick way to create instant sound variations or create and delete them during a performance.
Flexible Macro Configuration
Set shelves to hold between 1 and 16 macros.
Random Macro Values
Randomize your macro state or map the randomizer button to MIDI.
Tempo Follows
Live listens to and adjusts its tempo based on incoming audio in real time, making it a dynamic part of the band rather than a tempo source that everyone can follow.
Consider the Opportunity
Set the probability that a note or drum hit will occur, and let Live generate amazing variations of your patterns that change over time.
Speed Option
Set speed probability ranges for subtle, humanized variations in the dynamics of your patterns.
Follow the Steps
Live 11 adds Scene Follow Actions to expand the order. Follow Actions can now drill down to specific clips and enable and disable Follow Actions globally.
